At first I really supported posts that said things like “don’t report stealing if it’s small things that won’t hurt the min. wage employees, because that’s supporting a system that keeps certain people in a cycle of poverty,” but now that I work in a place where we make our money off of things people consider to be “small things” i.e. plush toys, small plastic prizes, etc. I realize that that is a very tunnel vision way of thinking.

Hi guys! I wanted to inform you about this great thing that is happening!

These smart fellows have devised a way to create cups, straws, mixers, etc that can detect common date rape drugs. This is an amazing idea and it needs funding! The campaign ends in 35 hours and they are a little short on funding. Please, signal boost this or even give a dollar if you can, it’s a great cause and something that will really change the world!

Only 28 hours left! Check this out and spread the word!

donate or signal boost, they still have about a fifth to go!

Hey! This is pretty awesome, so I thought I’d share here. Even if you can’t donate, signal boosting the fuck out of this is important!

Ok, a bunch of music festivals are coming up, I guess? Cue the shit talking about girls (mostly white girls) clothing choices, and what they choose to do at a festival. Keep making fun of them for culturally appropriating certain clothing items, that’s fine, they’re being assholes. STOP making fun of women for choosing to 1. take selfies during the show, 2. wearing other things besides offensive/stolen patterns/clothing items (ex. flowers in their hair, or crop tops and faded jean shorts). Calling them dumb bitches for taking a selfie during the show is fucking DEGRADING. I’m pretty sure you can listen to the music and take a fucking selfie to commemorate your favorite moments at the same time. Can we for a second talk about all the stupid shit guys do at music festivals, or are they gods? Last I checked most guys take more selfies in one week than I’ve ever taken in my life.

weird dog

hang on, wait a second

Ah, yes, the well-known privilege of being terrified someone will harass or assault you - and you’ll subsequently be blamed for it because you wore a skirt that day or were coming home from a bar. Ladies, sometimes we just don’t realize how good we have it!

"When I started playing Detective Olivia Benson, I began to get a lot of letters from viewers. I had gotten fan mail before, but these letters were different. They were coming from individuals who were disclosing histories of violence and abuse - a lot of them for the first time. I knew I had to do something, so I trained to become a rape crisis counselor, I joined Boards, I got involved. I was proud to be on a show that was brave enough to go into territory that no one was talking about, but I also knew I wanted to do more and play a larger role to help survivors heal and reclaim their lives. In 2004 I created the Joyful Heart Foundation with the mission to heal, educate, and empower survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse, and to shed light on the darkness surrounding these issues. I’m very proud to report that since we began, we’ve provided direct services to over 5,400 people, and that we’re determined to change the conversation about violence and abuse.”
